Chaplin Farrant have been engaged by Norwich School to convert the Blake Building into a performance and plenary facility to accommodate 180 pupils.
The former school gym, which was more recently split into teaching rooms, is being converted into a seated auditorium with a multi purpose space.
The seating design encorporates a cantilever balcony system which is shallow enough to allow seating to fold underneath it, whilst a new low level suspended floor is engineered to support the retractable tiered seating.
The roof space is being opened up to create higher ceilings and the replacement roof will see the thermal performance of the building improved.
The conversion is being carried out on the live school site with pupils in the vicinity at all times.
